“Detours” has a more literal meaning around New York the past two days, since the transit workers’ strike means that getting anywhere beyond the confines of one’s own neighborhood requires either an inordinate amount of planning or lots of money. I’m sympathetic to the workers’ cause, but damn. Here’s a story in the Times about the whole ordeal.
